Lake County YMCA 2009 Dream House Winner Ready to Move In
Pamela Glenn, a resident of Cleveland Heights, Ohio for 42 years, is the proud new winner of the Lake County YMCA 2009 Dream House.
“We are very happy for Pamela and her family. We know that they will greatly enjoy the hard work of our talented builders and interior design volunteers,” said Dick Bennett, Lake County YMCA Executive Director.
“In addition, our Board is discussing how this year’s proceeds will be spent to enhance our numerous programs and facilities. We are also preparing plans for the 2010 Dream House,” Bennett continued.
Since 1993, proceeds from the Dream House project have totaled over $3 million (approximately $200,000 per year) to provide facility and equipment enhancements for each branch of the Lake County YMCA (Central-Painesville, West End-Willoughby, East End-Madison, Perry’s Outdoor Family Center and the Childcare Centers). A few of these enhancements have included buses, gym equipment, expanded locker rooms, defibrillators, water attractions, an in-line skating rink, and accessibility modifications for those with special needs.
First established in 1866, the Lake County YMCA was originally known as the Painesville YMCA until it merged with the County YMCA in 1922. It was one of the earliest YMCA associations to include classes and activities for women. Today, the Lake County YMCA annually serves approximately 50,000 members and program participants. The YMCA is committed to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
